Boyle이 마약범죄자의 이력을 보면서 B.A를 얻었다고 놀랍니다.

B.A는 Bachelor of Arts 의 약자인데요 뜻은 예술학 학사 입니다.

같은 예로 B.S는 Bachelor of Science 과학 학사가 있죠.

로사는 How’s that interesting? 라고 말하는데요 뜻은 그게 뭐가 흥미로워? 또는 그게 어떻게 흥미로워? 라고 말합니다.

여기서 lowly란 계급이 천한이라고 말할 수 있습니다. 

그래서 잠시만요, 저는 천한 민간 행정원 이지만 이라고 해석 할 수 있습니다.

but I couldn’t help overhearing는 나는 계속 엿듣는 것을 도와줄 수 없다라고 해석하면 안됩니다.

I couldn't help는 나는 도저히 어쩔 수 없다로 해석하는게 맞습니다.

따라서 I couldn’t help overhearing은 나는 계속 엿듣게 되어서 어쩔 수 없다(=내 귀에 들려서 가만히 있을 수 없다)라고

해석 할 수 있겠네요.

As it turns out은 해석하면 알보 보니라고 해석하시면 됩니다. 매우 유용하게 쓰이는 표현이죠.

psychic은 점술가(점 보는 사람)입니다. 외국에도 점성술이 있다는게 놀랍네요.

E.G는 영어 사전에서 많이 본 바와 같이 예를 들면 또는 한가지 예로와 같이 해석할 수 있습니다.

그녀는 내가 마크라는 이름의 남자와 육체적으로 만족하는 관계를 가질거라고 예언했어라고 해석할 수 있습니다.

sensuous의 뜻은 육체적인 기쁨이고 그리고 여기서 한가지!

헷갈릴 수 있는 단어가 encounter인데 이 단어는 일반적으로 우연히 만나다라고 많은 사람들이 알고 있습니다.

하지만 이 단어는 그 뿐만 아니라 서로 모르는 남녀가 관계를 가지다는 의미로 사용하는 19금(?) 단어입니다.
